Bali is very family-friendly. Balinese love children — your kids will get more smiles than anywhere else. A few safety rules and picking the right region — the rest sorts itself out.
Where to stay with kids
- Sanur — calm beach with shallow water, seaside promenade perfect for strollers, plenty of family-friendly hotels;
- Nusa Dua — resort-style, gated, private beaches, calm pool, comfort guaranteed;
- Ubud — for older kids (7+): culture, workshops, safari;
- Avoid Kuta with small children (crowds, noise), Canggu (waves too big for swimming).
TOP attractions with kids
- Waterbom Bali (Kuta) — one of Asia's best water parks, slides, toddler zones;
- Bali Zoo — orangutan breakfast, elephant feeding;
- Bali Bird Park — 1000 birds, shows;
- Bali Safari & Marine Park — night safari, elephant rides (check ethics);
- Monkey Forest in Ubud — watch small kids! Monkeys steal anything shiny;
- Tegallalang — swings over rice terraces (age 6+).
Health and safety
- Bali Belly — diarrhea hits almost everyone. Take probiotics preventively, only bottled water, ice only at decent places, wash fruit yourself;
- Dengue — mosquitoes are present. Repellent, mosquito net, long trousers in evenings;
- Sun — SPF 50 every 2h, hats, avoid beach 11-3 PM;
- Power — European sockets (type C/F), often without earth;
- Travel insurance with evacuation mandatory — transport to Singapore hospital costs tens of thousands.
Transport with a child
Car rental with driver (500-700k IDR/day = 40-60 EUR) is safest. Scooters are out — chaotic traffic, frequent accidents. Child seats are rare — bring your own or demand from driver.
Best time with kids
May-October (dry). August is packed — book 3+ months ahead. Our recommendation: June or September — warm, dry, fewer crowds.
