📍 Off Jemeluk Beach, Amed
The Japanese Wreck (locally called Bangkai Jepang) is a small WWII patrol boat resting in 6-12m of water directly offshore from Amed. Its shallow depth makes it accessible to snorkelers from the beach — no boat required.
Over decades the wreck has become a thriving artificial reef covered in soft corals, gorgonians, and home to lionfish, moray eels, bumphead parrotfish, and schools of anthias. Best visibility October-May. Local dive centers offer guided snorkeling and diving trips.
